The world’s-leading cryptocurrency exchange CoinW, held a roundtable on 2nd November, to commemorate its 5th anniversary with entrepreneurs and crypto veterans to discuss crypto applications and many possibilities. This event was joined by several renowned players in the space, including Hong Kong Blockchain Association, Horizon Protocol, Nest Protocol, BlockBeats and some crypto investors and advisers.

This roundtable discussed outlined CoinW’s achievements over the five years of being in business. Other topics such as ;Hong Kong’s bid to become a crypto hub with retail trading and ETFs, the development and promising future of crypto in the next five years, how blockchain and fintech are forging the financial industry and society, hopes and concerns around crypto regulation and compliance and many more were discussed.

This roundtable was joined by the Hong Kong Blockchain Association, founded by blockchain experts. HKBA advocates for the development of proportionate and effective regulation while attracting greater investment and talent into Hong Kong Blockchain Development. Tony Tong, the Co-Founder & Co-Chairman of the Hong Kong Blockchain Association, believes that Hong Kong is embracing the crypto technology on a larger scale. This move is part of a wider push to restore the city’s credentials as a financial centre,he added “HongKong has actually had a very early start as the gateway to China, in addition to being the financial centre of the world for many years, Hong Kong was ranked number one in terms of IPO and fundraising. As one of the top destinations, Hong Kong is ready and hopefully, big crypto events will return to Hong Kong.”
Stanton Wong, the education director of Horizon Protocol also joined the round table. As a DeFi platform, Horizon Protocol focuses on facilitating the creation of on-chain synthetic assets representing the real economy. “DeFi, NFT, GameFi, Web3 and all of it highlights an underlying transparent and easily traceable technology, which leads to trust in the system when it becomes mature.” Stanton stated, “I think the biggest development in the next few years will be the gradual integration of web3 into our daily lives. Web3 technologies will be more interesting because the design of web3 technologies tends to explore a better and fairer synergy between all the different users of a platform.”
“Back in 2017, the crypto space was pretty simple. launching smart contracts and tokens on Ethereum connected to different fields worldwide. NFT is a boom that continued the last bull run from 2020 to 2022. NFTs will take the stage center for a longer time.” Said Dmitri, a serial cryptopreneur and angel investor, “In the future, NFTs will be bound to the real world and represent more personal data, privacy, ownership and decentralized identity.”
“In the short term, social applications are the most achievable tracks right now with huge market potential. People are looking for data ownership and new ways to interact with others online.” said Jack Xiong, the BlockBeats researcher, “ In the long run, DeFi has the biggest addressable market and the highest potential rewards, but only after it constructed a reliable bridge between TradFi, and that could take a while.”
Woody Meng, the Head of Marketing of Nest Protocol, a PVM-based Web3 infrastructure that enables the generation and programming of stochastic assets with over 900 thousand followers on Twitter. Woody commented, “Currently, most VCs focus on GameFi and Infrastructure, and that’s where the real potential lies. During the bear market, marketing-oriented projects are hard to survive. However, the bear market is good timing to build infrastructure and overcome technology barriers. Focusing on the infrastructure development during the bear market and to see will rise in the bull market.”
